garden, farm, playground

The thriving school garden provides a focus for students to learn principles of sustainability and how to grow and care for a food garden. Each week students participate in ‘Aussi-Tas’ which sees them don their gumboots and garden gloves to work alongside staff and nurture the fruit and vegetable garden, as well as care for the flock of chickens and tend the sheep.

The produce from the vegetable garden is sold on a weekly basis from the ‘School Cart’, and also used for healthy ‘Hot Lunch’ which occurs once a week and is prepared by volunteer parents and friends.
The recent addition of a bush foods garden — ’Snack Track’ — has provided the opportunity to build on students’ understanding and connection to traditional aboriginal ways of life.
